North Ridge - taking it to the next level

Meet the North Ridge Team

Duncan Clark founder of North Ridge Adventure

Duncan Clark BA(Hons), SIA, ML, SPA

Back in the 70's, Duncan was doing 'bushcraft' for fun - spear fishing, air rifle hunting, building dens and fires and learning what could be safely eaten in the outdoors. He climbed his first mountain at 10 years old he has since trekked and climbed extensively, being a long serving member of the British Mountaineering Council (BMC).

With a natural affinity for long distance walking he applied for Special Forces selection whilst serving as a Territorial Army soldier - during which time he met Lofty Wiseman (SAS Survival Handbook) who reinforced his existing interest in basic living and survival skills.

He is a race organizer for the Trail Running Association (TRA) having personally competed at ultra distances up to 95 (non-stop) miles and in 2010 authored the UKs first civilian Survival Instructor Award. Rooted in the PLAN-M methodology it has quickly attracted international and professional interest.

Well respected as a coach and trainer, Duncan has an international client base, consults for magazines, newspapers and appears at major outdoor shows. His engaging, informal yet thorough approach defines what North Ridge Adventure is all about.
