Meet the North Ridge Team
Duncan ClarkDuncan founded North Ridge Adventure to offer training and personal challenge to all who would start to seek it out. An ascent of Kinder Scout at the age of 10 hooked him to a life in the hills and he's been at it ever since. As a Territorial Army soldier, he applied for Special Forces selection - subsequently learning many new skills including how to jump out of perfectly good aircraft and, of course, the combat survival skills then taught by ‘Lofty’ Wiseman. He's highly motivated and recently ran the entire West Highland Way – 95 miles in under 28 hours (they do say life begins at 40!) As a qualified Mountain Leader and has long been involved with the BMC (British Mountaineering Council) and as a climbing club secretary helped lobby for the freedoms we now enjoy under the Countryside Rights of Way (CROW) Act. Having trekked and climbed in the Alps, Andes, Himalaya, Africa, China, Japan, his experience is robust and sustained. Duncan is now highly regarded as a coach and trainer, and shares his wealth of experience in an engaging manner, whilst actively encouraging others to share and grow their own experiences.
Jay BridgeJay is a qualified Mountain Leader with an enduring love of wild places which comes across in real enthusiasm. An excellent communicator and qualified in coaching techniques, Jay can really deliver skills training in an enjoyable and easy manner and is putting these skills to good use as a sports performance coach, helping competitive sportsmen & women to reach their goals. He has a rich mix of sporting interests himself – from national league rugby at University to fly fishing, and board riding, likes to keep fit and enjoys nothing better than a hard blast in the hills! More than that though, he sees the outdoors as a great place to unwind, develop new skills and have fun.
Cathy MorrellCathy is a Sports Coach & Personal Trainer with a BA (Sports Science) and is a qualified teacher. She also has an impressive list of personal sporting achievements to her name, including England Cross Country Team, County XC Champion and A class KIMM competitor – which means the advice she offers us in course design and training plans has real integrity and validity. Although Cathy has an independent athletics coaching career, she remains a valued member of our team, helping us design events and providing internal moderation to our Survival Instructor award. |
