Hi Grubby - sorry about time lag - outdoor show you know?
I've set up a Page called Sleepwalker 2009, I think, so that's what I was referring to -be good to get people posting there. I have had a think already about a potential route which should satisfy your masochistic demands but of course, you won't want to spoil the potential surprise. Question is - how well do you know the area - there are always those who know it intimately so they will have to be dealt with by other cunning methods (big climbs). If they can deal with both then they probably deserve to win anyway!

Put yr next postings on theSW page and lets see what happens?

In the cold light of day, I'd have to agree that it needs to get the numbers to make it viable. So perhaps another course option, as you suggested.
If I know that there is going to be a tougher option either navigationally or properly 'off-track', particularly if you can let me know the approx route in advance, I'm sure I can get the not inconsiderable number of competent nutters to come out of the woodwork, and give it a crack.
Incidentally, is this the 'Sleepwalker page' that you refer to. . . .or do I need to be posting somewhere else ?

Thanks again.

Grubby, some of your fellow runners might see that as a bit of a challenge!
Question is, how many others are thinking the same way? Personally I would love to offer a race which was really full-on however need the numbers to make it viable. Maybe the answers to have 2 races - the Sleepwalker which is plenty challenging enough for a lot of runners, and is a real runners route, plus something with more 'bite' as you say but earlier in the year when there is less chance of ice??

Please post replies on the Sleepwalker page and I'll be only too happy to consider this for the future...

Oi Dunc !
Did the Sleepwalker for the first time last year with a 'gorgeous girlie' from our running club. Nice little number.(The race ! - well, and the girlie actually.)
Good event, much enjoyed.
Trouble is, the navigation is all a bit easy really. Yes, you know it is. More geared up for these army types who've had twelve weeks of basic training and think they can go anywhere.
Well it's about time you made it rather more serious. Doesn't matter if we loose the odd road runner (or 'army type') off the occasional cliff.
The trouble these days, is that everyone can buy into pretty much any 'potted adventure' package you care to mention - most of the fun, but none of the responsibility.
Tain't right, tain't proper.

I know all those who entered last year enjoyed it, as did I and my 'girlie'.
But let's have an option this year for something with a bit of navigational 'bite' there's a good chap.
