Mountaineering and Hill WalkingThe Mountain ExperienceWhen you're ready to stay out in the mountains – we can show you how to do it with fun, excitement and safety. From high & wild camps, using mountain tents and/or bivouacs, you will gain sound practical experience and learn essential mountaineering skills to prepare you for adventures on your own. We cover all aspects of equipment choice, route planning, camp craft, nutrition and safety in detail, along with important subjects like minimising our environmental impact and land access legislation. Map reading & navigation of course feature prominently on this course, and you will have ample opportunity to learn and practise as we journey through the hills together. If you still have enough energy, we often go out again at night, either for more map reading training or on guided walks, whatever the weather. It makes for a full and exciting itinerary.
Scrambling AdventuresAscents of the most exciting ridges in Snowdonia and elsewhere. Let an experienced guide show you the path between walking and rock climbing!
Emergency ResponsesTeaching you practical responses to an emergency, this one day course takes place on the mountains and should be high on everyone’s to-do list. Learn how to take control of a situation from people with personal experience.
Endurance EventsFor those who push themselves harder, we offer the chance to take on some fabulous and rewarding mountain challenges, either competitively or as part of a guided group. Welsh 3000's, Lake District 3000's, 3 peaks, Long Distance walks – whatever the challenge we welcome your enquiry and can also organise and guide bespoke events for your group or club. Each June we run the Welsh 3000's as a fully guided open event. The 'Fan Dance' and 'Long Drag' are publicly documented tests within the SAS Selection course. Originally sub-contracted to run these courses, they have proved so popular we will continue to offer them as the ultimate civilian hill walking challenge. Both these events attract excellent charity fundraising. The Fan Dance can be organised for groups with little experience as we will assign each group their very own 'DS' (Directing Staff) who will accompany the group throughout. Ultimate Endurance requires more experience whether attempted individually or in groups. Please download the pdf for more details.
