SLEEPWALKER 2009

28th November from Talybont on Usk, Powys

Is a 20 Mile Night-Time Trail Race.. held under UK Athletics/Trail Running Association rules and is now in its 3rd succesfull year

UK Athletics/ Trail Running Association Race Permit 105=09

this is the UK's ONLY official Night Trail Race - 1st run in 2007 and set to become a modern classic, it appeals to fast runners and challenge runners alike.

Starting from Talybont on Usk, the route climbs steadily through the ancient forests of the Talybont valley, offering spectacular starlit views of the reservoir and mountains beyond.

Water is available at the Neuath Reservoir, about 8 miles in, with a fantastic flat forest section to follow , before a couple of miles on a minor road brings you to checkpoint 3, where hot tea went down well last year (it was -5C), followed by the most testing part of the course.

Climbing past Dolygaer Outdoor centre, you're now heading for home - just a barren windswept moorland section at nearly 2000feet high to cross, skirting round the crags at the end then it's flat out downhill all the way back to Talybont.

Showers, refreshments, even a pint (if you're fast enough) await.

CHARITY FUNDRAISING

Safety cover will be provided by Mountain Rescue and all profits from refreshment sales will be donated to the team funds. We always try to support our local MRT who are all volunteers.

One of our Army teams (2 Engineer Regmt) will be selling Help 4 Heroes wristbands as part of their charity fundraising effort and we'll have collection tins on the night if you'd like to support this popular Armed Forces charity.

For any other information please contact Duncan Clark on 07979 691989.

Info at 22/11/09

110 entered so far which is 100% up on last year - fantastic! Today, after numerous contacts last night when RW stopped accepting entries we have extended the online entry date right up to the 25th November. This will make things a bit more difficult for the organisers  but it's more important that we are able to accept your entries if you really want to run on the 28th. Please help us by not leaving it right to the last minute if you can book now it would be appreciated, but if you can't you have till the 25th.
