Survival Experience

Added 9th of June 2008

Two days instruction at base camp will give you the knowledge and prepare you for our emergency exercise which will require you to make a taxing journey under survival conditions.

Could you put up with 'roughing it' for a few days? The scenario will be one where you need to leave your present location, and go for help. Only with the most basic essentials, you will improvise and endure, sharing with other course members what might be a very personally fulfilling experience as (maybe for the first time) you leave all those creature comforts behind.

Who does the best, men, women, children? Or is it more about personal attitude?

You can be confident as well, because as you progress on this journey we will never be too far away, ready to offer any support you need.

Book now if you want to be trained to survive, and start to learn what your body is capable of. 'Course we'll try to have a bit of fun as well and our training centre has full facilities including hot showers and a licensed outdoor restaurant!

As always, please phone if you'd like to know more - we'll be glad to answer your questions and help you decide which course is suitable for you.

Not even a footprint ;-)

Survival Experience

    S.Wales

The course title says it all – this course is about sampling a little of what a survival experience really feels like.

The reason – to give you not only the knowledge of skills, techniques and strategies, but also to give your body a physiological experience which you can learn from and which will prepare you for future challenges.

Should the worst ever happen, you can be putting your plan into action, while others are still struggling to come to terms with the situation!

Your chief instructor will be Duncan Clark assisted by other instructors from North Ridge Adventure and whilst we take your safety and learning seriously we also aim to have fun and enjoy a relaxing experience...

A Practical Approach

Throughout the course we recognise that people learn in different ways and so the general format will be for you to HEAR, SEE, and DO.

This means in practice that we will clearly articulate what we are aiming to do, we will skilfully demonstrate it for you, and then it will be your turn.

We operate this course from a base camp in the Brecon Beacons National Park.  Skills training will take place at the base, and there will be an exercise in the surrounding countryside where you can put your skills to the test.

You need only your enthusiasm and a change of clothes, waterproofs, and sleeping bag and personal items. If you already have other equipment and a knife, hand axe etc then by all means bring it along although we will provide everything else you need. Country clothing or your normal outdoor clothing is fine.
